PTO Fundraisers

The PTO raises funds to support educational and social programs at Birchwood, such as Arts in Education (which provides classroom workshops and school assembly performances), twice-yearly staff appreciation events, field trips, and free-admission school events like the Back-to-School BBQ and the End-of-Year Ice Cream Social. Some funds are used to allow families needing financial assistance to participate in Birchwood programs. There are lots of ways to help--from shoppers' rewards programs to school sales fundraisers--pick the ones that suit you. Thanks for your support!

Besides our shoppers' reward programs, the PTO partners with Birchwood staff and families to promote school sales fundraisers throughout the school year.  The sales fundraisers are carefully chosen and timed to minimize the burden on families and maximize profits for Birchwood, while creating fun opportunities for families, staff and friends to offer (or purchase) things people actually want and enjoy.

Gift Cards

The Birchwood PTO is now offering a Gift Card Fundraiser through Great Lakes Scrip. They offer over 300 gift card options. Purchase gift cards for your own personal use and/or start your holiday shopping early by purchasing gift cards from a vast variety of merchants. These cards are purchased at the value listed and the PTO will receive the corresponding rebate percentage. You can purchase as many cards as you like for yourself or to give as gifts; they are great for teachers, bus drivers, friends and family.  Forms and deadlines are available on the homepage during this annual fundraiser.

Support Birchwood while you do your weekly shopping!  The programs listed below range from store reward programs (earn money or equipment for Birchwood while grocery shopping) to label/UPC clipping programs (you clip, the kids stick and color to fun label savings sheets!).  If you shop at Target, Price Chopper or Hannaford the rewards are already there, just waiting to fall into your hands! See below for specific program details.

Submit Your Box Tops Labels, and Your Child Could Win!
You can easily raise money for Birchwood when you cut out this label from many products you buy at the grocery store. Submit the Box Tops labels by printing out a sheet here and gluing on your box tops (NO TAPE PLEASE--BoxTops can't recycle sheets with taped labels). Or, forget the glue, and toss them in a ziplock bag in bundles of 25 or 50! Sheets are also available in the main office.. Don’t forget to include your child’s name!
Each month, students who submit completed sheets are entered into a drawing for a great prize with a local merchant. So start clipping and send your box tops to school. Last year, Birchwood earned $982! Thanks so much to everyone who cuts out Box Tops!

In the past Birchwood has earned free books, sporting equipment, games for the Fun Fair, and many teaching tools--all for free! You can either submit labels on 1-point collection sheet or the 5-point collection sheet (copies are also available in the Main Office).  You can also save your labels in a ziplock bag in bundles of 19. Don’t forget to include your child’s name.

Seeking Volunteers for NEW Grants Committee!
We have big dreams for Birchwood and would love your support in making them a reality! How can you help Birchwood grow? Join the grants committee!
We won our first grant in the spring of 2013 from the Niskayuna Community Foundation, which awarded us nearly $3,000 for renovations and expansion of the Birchwood School Nature Park. This funding allowed us to leverage matching donations that brought the total revenue for the Park up to nearly $5000.
Grant-writing experience is helpful, but not necessary. Having a dream for Birchwood is crucial!
