School & District Emails

                        School News in Your Inbox

Did you know . . .  there are three email lists to get school information?

1)  Birchwood Directory

Who owns the list and who writes the emails:
The Birchwood PTO manages the list and a select list of approved authors can send email (i.e., your friendly PTO Communication Committee). Mail comes from birchwood@niskypto.org.

How you get on/off this list:

You are automatically on the list if your email address is listed in the Birchwood Directory and you haven’t opted out. Birchwood staff are also on the list. There is an “unsubscribe” option at the bottom of every email bulletin.  You can also add, change, or delete an email address by submitting the online form on the Birchwood Bulletin webpage.

What kind of information is sent:

The Birchwood Bulletin, which contains school and co-curricular information, like school-wide events (e.g., Monster Mash), Birchwood clothing sales, notes from the school nurse, reminders of school holidays and early dismissal days, and quick links to things like sign-up sheets and lunch menus. You can see past bulletins on the Birchwood Bulletin webpage.

Approximately frequency of email:
Once a week; routinely on Thursdays.

2)      Buzzable for Nisky Schools

Who owns the list and who writes the emails:

Owned by the Niskayuna PTO webmaster, with PTO list managers at each school who can also author emails. Emails come from SCHOOLNAME@niskypto.org (e.g.  birchwood@niskypto.org); district-level information comes from mleon@niskyschools.org. List managers do not have access to subscriber's email addresses.

How you get on/off this list:
You have to opt-in (sign-up) for this list at http://www.niskypto.org/mailing-lists, or use the form below. You can unsubscribe or update your subscription preferences from the links at the bottom of any Buzzable email. If you’re not sure whether you’ve subscribed already, sign up and the system will let you know.

What kind of information is sent:
Depending on how you set your subscription preferences, you can get announcements from your school, the district, N-CAP, and Friends of Music. Messages will be about performances, call for volunteers, or short reminders about upcoming events or deadlines. You can view an archive of all school Buzzable messages at: http://www.niskypto.org/email-archive. Text messaging is also available.

Approximately how often are emails sent:
Depends on how you set your subscription preferences (i.e. how many schools you subscribe to). From Birchwood, approximately 2-3 Buzzable emails per month.
